Power Tools Tips
Cordless Hammer Drills
Remember that these tools are geared
for speed and if you are going to use the drill for
driving screws as well, switch it into low gear. This
will provide you with much more torque and a lot less
strain on your motor. (Eric Mook, Lombard Store Manager)
Belt Sanders
When using a variable speed belt sander
for stripping paint and varnish, lower the speed to
cut down on the heat that is generated. By doing this
you will not melt the finish, keeping your belt from
clogging and gumming up. (Eric Mook, Lombard Store
Manager)
Cordless Impact Drivers
If you do any fastening, especially in
steel, you have to try a cordless impact driver. They
operate at a much higher speed than most cordless drills,
and the torque is considerably greater. (Eric Mook,
Lombard Store Manager)
